This one is another disc of chilly ambience from the fine folks at Contra. This one again is packaged as previously noted with the 5 x 7 photo covers with CD hubs. I’ll admit, the first time I plugged this one in I was a little underwhelmed. I thought it was a bit to sterile and cold, too much digital and not enough analogue for my tastes. So I put it aside and came back to it a few weeks later.

Then it realized that’s probably the exact sound Mr. Fink was attempting with Dead Industrie. This isn’t your typical Cold Meat type of darkness. Things are brighter here. There are elements of traditional Japanese influences that peak through the curtains at times, and interjections of classical electronic composing à la Vangelis. The Finkster makes no apology for the computerized nature of his work, but embraces it, yet manages to give a less than modern interpretation. As I noted the Vangelis reference above, I’m also reminded of early Kraut Rock space jams like Tangerine Dream coupled with sci-fi ambience that would be well at home on an Eno album.

This one includes three photo inserts and is available direct from the label at contramusikproduktion.de/releases .
